MEC Investigation and Remediation-Malta

The Former Malta (Rocket) Test Station is a FUDS and NPL site which is being redeveloped by the Luther Forest Technology Campus Economic Development Corporation to support construction of a multi-billion dollar microchip fabrication plant.

Matrix initially provided UXO avoidance support for grubbing, test borings, and digital geophysical mapping of 16 acres of easement areas supporting redevelopment construction in and around the former test areas.
Matrix analyzed the geophysical data to prioritize anomalies and clearance areas then intrusively investigated the high priority locations. A test ordnance disposal pit containing 155mm and 105mm practice rounds was discovered and remediated. The practice rounds were explosively perforated using engineering controls for blast mitigation and all munitions related debris was identified, inspected, certified, demilitarized, and properly disposed of at a certified scrap metal recycler.
This project was completed on schedule one week prior to the construction start date for a parking lot and power line easement and demonstrates our ability to meet an aggressive contract schedule in order to facilitate start of vital infrastructure redevelopment.
