Lake Avenue Urban Renewal Corridor

Matrix provided project management and transportation design services for the Lake Avenue Urban Renewal Corridor on the south side of Pueblo. This avenue was formerly State Highway 85/87 and is located directly east of the recent Lake Minnequa improvements.

The project provides a gateway into an urban revitalization and recreational area. The design entails converting an over-capacity four lane roadway into a "Complete Street" pedestrian friendly zone.

The design provides traffic calming measures such as a roundabout at Streator Avenue and a raised intersection at Highland Avenue. Additionally included are a raised median for access control and parallel parking to provide a buffer between the pedestrian zone and the travel lanes for vehicles.
