Austin Bluffs Parkway Corridor Improvements
Matrix Design Group is providing transportation project management and design services for the $28M Austin Bluffs Parkway Corridor. The corridor program consists of widening three four-lane segments to complete a six-lane arterial condition along the parkway. The project will also incorporate bicycle lane, pedestrian access, signalization, and utility and stormwater improvements into the overall corridor consistent with the complete street objectives as set forth by the city.
The project also entails a comprehensive public informational effort involving a wide diversity of publicly affected interests. These include commuters, the trucking community, neighborhoods, businesses, pedestrians, bicyclists, Palmer Park, and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. The Matrix team has developed a stakeholder support solution for the Austin Bluffs Corridor which strives to improve mobility, safety, and system connectivity while enhancing neighborhoods and businesses along the corridor.
The design and coordination effort consists of completing a topographic and utility survey of the corridor; a corridor traffic study; a complete stormwater analysis of the roadway drainage facilities; preliminary and final roadway design documents; utility coordination and design documents; and a complete construction documentation package. The project design duration will run through 2011 with construction slated for 2012.
