The redevelopment of the former Lowry Air Force Base is heralded as one of the most successful redevelopments of a former U.S. military base. The redevelopment master plan includes 1,866 acres of mixed use property. Prime sub-areas of the development include 500 acres of residential use with over 2,000 dwelling units, 800-plus acres of active recreational and passive open space, 180 acres of employment campus, and 160 acres of educational campus.

Matrix Design Group, Inc. partners were involved in all aspects of the redevelopment planning and design effort including:

Site planning for drainage included the 8,100 foot Westerly Creek Dam and the 560 foot Kelly Road Dam which together provide regional flood control for Denver and Aurora. The plan utilized both major and minor onsite drainage systems to replace the undersized Air Force system. Drainage master planning and design work at Lowry included:
