South Platte River Vision Ecological Planning & Assessment

Mile High Flood District and Adams County led a coalition of municipalities along the South Platte River (SPR) in developing a long-term vision for this regionally significant river corridor. Matrix worked with Biohabitats to provide ecological planning and assessment support to the project team. The goal of the SPR Vision Plan was to create a more connected and ecologically functional river corridor for all to enjoy. The project area comprised the 17-mile stretch of the SPR that transects Adams County — the downstream extent of the river corridor spanning from Arapahoe through Denver and Adams Counties that is covered in the Vision Plan. This regional planning effort will guide ecological restoration, recreation, mobility, and development well into the future and serve as a standard bearer in restoring river and ecosystem functionality while meeting recreation and development needs --elsewhere on the Platte River and beyond.
