Matrix provided professional services to the Flint Hills Regional Council (FHRC) in conducting a comprehensive regional economic impact analysis of the impact for the communities surrounding the Fort Riley, Kansas military installation after the estimated drawdown of nearly 2,100 Army personnel. The impacts estimated include the total economic effects (direct, indirect, and induced) of gross regional product, regional employment, personal wages, and personal consumption. Furthermore, our assessment examined the impacts to the regional housing market, schools, childcare services, and demand for other public services. This assessment included a series of formal and informal public meetings facilitated by Matrix to collect community input from a variety of regional stakeholders. Based on the study’s findings, Matrix assisted the FHRC with developing a mitigation and growth strategy moving forward.
